Aerial Yoga elevates asana practice to provide assistance to traditional poses as well as introduce unique and fun aerial transitions.The hammock acts as a yoga prop to take pressure off joints as well as decompress the spine during inversion. The class begins with a slow flow to warm up and prep the core for a peak aerial pose. An aerial sequence takes the feet off the mat to experience flight in the fabric. Class finishes off with a meditation and savasana in the hammock for restoration and relaxation. The instructor is Alaskan aerial acrobat Stasia Butler. She travels abroad collecting and teaching a variety of movement. She became interested to integrate her love circus arts and yoga, which lead her to India where she certified her aerial yoga practice with Anahaat Yog in 2018. She is currently traveling in Central America toward South America making stops along the way to interact with local artists and studios to share her passion for movement.
